Was Your Holiday Gift The Wrong Size? 5 Ways to Alter Holiday Jewelry Gifts

Annabelle / December 9, 2019

The holidays might be over, but you can still enjoy your new presents! If you’ve received a new, shiny piece of jewelry or a dazzling timepiece, consider getting it customized to the right fit for you. Or, add an additional little “oomph” to the present by engraving something sentimental. Read on for five creative ideas on how to put that finishing touch on your new prize possession with some jewelry gift customization services.

1. Ring Resizing

A ring that was sized from a 6 to a 6.5.

Not every ring comes out fitting like Cinderella’s shoe! It might just be a little too loose, or a little too tight after that holiday dinner, so get it resized for that perfect fit. Expert jewelers cut, stretch, or shrink the rings to any full, half, or quarter size that you might need. A full polish, clean, and stone tightening will ensure that your rings come back looking like new.

2. Bracelet and Necklace Resizing

As with rings, bracelets and necklaces may be too big for your taste. Depending on the design, you might be wondering; how can I even size this? No worries- even complicated pieces such as tennis bracelets can be shortened! The jeweler just has to make a few precise snips or cuts and voila; the bracelet or necklace is at the perfect size for you.

Extensions are also available for those who want longer pieces well. You can opt for a simple chain addition at the end of the piece, or go the full custom route and have an extension created to match the rest of the bracelet or necklace for a seamless look. The choice is yours!

3. Watch Link Addition and Removal

Watches also need adjusting from time to time. The best thing about this service is that it can be done in less than an hour by our jewelers. With some simple unscrewing and assembly, the watch will be back in your hands before you even know it. We can even source links to match your band for lengthening purposes.

4. Gold Plating

If you got something in silver, and you love the design but everything else you wear is gold, we have you covered with our favorite jewelry gift customization service; gold plating! A dip in the karat shade of your choice from 10k to 24k will give your present a gleaming, sunny glow. Opt for a thicker and longer-lasting plating by selecting micron plating, or even ask for rose gold if you feel particularly daring in pink.

5. Engraving

One of our all-time favorite products, we love engraving because it gives such a personal touch to the piece. Our engraving services are extremely customizable; aside from basic inscriptions in block or script font, we can also do custom fonts, custom images, and even other languages! Engravings can be done on a variety of materials, including tungsten, stainless steel, ceramic carbide, and watch backs.
