Appraisal Questions, Answered

How much does an appraisal cost?

Metal testing is $15. A jewelry appraisal document or loose gemstone appraisal is $105, and a watch appraisal document is $115. You see the price before you ship.

What is in the appraisal document?

A trifold document with a detailed description of the piece — metal, weight, stone measurements and quality — and a stated retail replacement value suitable for insurance purposes.

Do I need an appraisal for insurance?

Most insurers require a recent appraisal to schedule jewelry on a policy, and many ask for an update every few years as values change.

How long does an appraisal take?

Watch appraisals take about one week from the day your watch arrives; jewelry appraisals take about two weeks, plus shipping time each way.

Is my piece insured during shipping?

Yes. We ship via FedEx and every shipment is fully insured by Lloyd’s of London. At checkout you select a FedEx shipping option (or ship on your own), and we return your piece fully tracked and insured.
