Necklaces have always been the most prominently displayed piece of jewelry you can possibly wear (apart from a crown!) Like every other type of jewelry, they come in a variety of different styles, and we’ve picked out five that we think you should know for 2020. Read on to learn more about these necklace styles.

1. Solitaire

This necklace style will never go out of fashion- it’s just too classic and too simple! Whether it’s a prong set colored gemstone or a bezel set little diamond, solitaire necklaces are the best way to add a little glitter to your daily wardrobe without overdoing it. The minimalism of its design lends itself to any outfit, whether fancy and formal or casual in jeans.

2. Locket

A gold fill locket before and after stone replacement.

Lockets were initially used as sentimental keepsakes, but that doesn’t mean that they’re always old-fashioned in appearance! You can opt for a vintage style if that’s your vibe, or check out sleeker modern ones for a more updated look. In silver and gold, set with diamonds and moonstones, you can wear a locket for a fashion statement and keep something special inside.

3. Cluster

We love this avant-garde necklace style because it adds a wonderful pop of color and asymmetry to any look. Cluster pendants are just what they sound like; a little grouping of precious stones such as sapphires, rubies, and topaz to create a mini painting for your neck. Try lower-end options made from cubic zirconia, or opt for a higher-end style with genuine gemstones and diamonds.

4. Talisman

An emerald evil eye bracelet that needed a quick chain repair.

It’s a common belief since antiquity that jewelry can offer protection against evil, and designers are practically flocking to provide high-end “talisman” pieces for the spiritually-inclined jewelry lover. Try out a hamsa or evil eye design, or opt for items like a symbolic medallion embossed or engraved with an animal guardian.

5. Zodiac

Everyone knows someone who’s really into astrology, and if you happen to be that person in your friend group you’ll be happy to know that zodiac signs are common in jewelry! You can wear the astrological symbol, the representation of the sign, or even a diamond-studded reconstruction of the constellation for a more subtle look.
